FFT was formed by joining together two seaparate charities, both of which grew from the vision of David Iliffe. Childrens Worldwide was formed in the 1980's with a vision to pursue and develop Christian ministry for children and young people. Dalesdown was established as a charity some years later with a vision to develop a centre for residential camps and activities. Following the purchase and development of the current site at Dalesdown, the charities were later brought together as a single entity as Family Foundations Trust. 

Dalesdown was identified as a good site for the ministry, and was purchased with the generous support of the Laing Trust. At the time, Dalesdown was virtually derelict, having closed as a school some years before.  Under the leadership of David Iliffe, the generosity, dedication, commitment and shere hard work of a small group of people transformed the building and grounds. Over the years, the site has been extended and developed into the wonderful facility it is today. 

The vision continues to move forward, with the development of the Sellwood Centre, a new sports hall and activity room within the grounds of Dalesdown, due to open at Easter 2011..

Family Foundations Trust Ltd are a member of CCI, an association of Christian organisations and individuals involved in camps, holidays, conference and outdoor ministries.
