Family Foundations Trust Ltd
As mentioned in the who's who section, Dalesdown is the Conference Centre arm of our governing charity, Family Foundations Trust Ltd. Also part of Family Foundations Trust Ltd is Children Worldwide which is the Trust's children's work arm.
Initially they were both separate charities with Children Worldwide formed some 30 years ago and Family Foundations Trust Ltd set up 20 years ago to buy the property at Dalesdown.
Both charities were set up through the vision of our founder David Iliffe, who had the vision and inspiration for their formation all those years ago.
Family Foundations Trust Ltd are a member of CCI, an association of Christian organisations and individuals involved in camps, holidays, conference and outdoor ministries, which David also helped to pioneer!
Dalesdown
Through David's experiences of children's work overseas in New Zealand & America he saw the benefit that children in those countries deived from attending Christian children's camps, and Family Foundations Trust Ltd was set up in 1987 to buy a site suitable for running such camps in the UK.
After a lot of prayer and searching Dalesdown was purchased in 1991 by Family Foundations Trust Ltd, with the generous support of the Laing Trust. Thereafter it has been a story of God's moving and prompting of individuals to give their time, their talents and their finances to make this centre what it is today, a blessing and a great resource for many.
Children Worldwide
David Iliffe was originally a plumber who was involved in children's work. He was soon to become a full time children's worker and his involvement in this work and particularly with children's camps rapidly grew and grew with opportunities to travel both nationally and worldwide. As he travelled and met lots of other children's workers he saw the need to encourage, equip and train other children's workers and for those workers to be able to network with each other.
With his heart for Children's evangelism at his very core he set up Children Worldwide charity over 30 years ago and from these beginings the charity has grown to represent over 60 workers based throughout the UK and beyond.
Children Worldwide are well regarded within Christian children's work and are involved in leading children's programmes through Whizz Kids (lead by our directors responsible for Children Worldwide, Steve & Kay Morgan-Gurr) at major national Christian events as well as camps, holiday clubs, schools work, church weekends, training events, networking, Youth Worker Training through Future Builders and so much more at Dalesdown and beyond.
Unity
It was always David's vision to unite these two charities and this was accomplished in 2006. The Family Foundations Trust Ltd board now oversee the operations of both arms of the charity through regular board meetings with specific Dalesdown Centre and Children Worldwide management committee's.
