Dalesdown is about 8 miles south of Horsham, and 10 miles north of Worthing, close to the A24. We are a rural location, accessed from Honeybridge Lane which runs between Dial Post (Old Barn Nursery on the A24) and Ashurst.
Sat Nav is great.. but… if you’re travelling by car or coach, please be aware that in common with many rural locations, our post code covers a very large area (about 10 square miles) and consequently Sat Nav can be misleading and will not bring you direct to Dalesdown. The SatNav will direct you to the point which is geographically at the centre of our post code, which is about a mile from Dalesdown and at the end of bridle paths which are not suitable for vehicles. You must stay on the roads until you reach the lane which is marked ‘Dalesdown and Potthill Farm’. Please share the directions below with all members of your group who are driving to Dalesdown – including coach drivers!
Leave the A24 at the Old Barn Nursery (near Dial Post) along the small road signposted Ashurst. After several hundred yards you will pass the Honeybridge Caravan Park. Keep left at this point and continue for nearly 1.5 miles until you reach a single track lane on the left, where you will see a Dalesdown advertising board. Do not turn off on to the bridle paths or unmade roads before our lane as they are not suitable for vehicles. Drive up the lane for about half a mile to find Dalesdown on the right.
Please park in one of our car parks. Parking on the lane is not permitted in order to maintain access for agricultural vehicles.
Dalesdown has a turning circle which is suitable for coaches. However, because of our location, we make recommendations as to the type of coach which is used. Please see the Coach Information page for details.
Honeybridge Lane runs from the A24 to the village of Ashurst. It is essential that coaches arrive and leave via the A24. The section of road between Dalesdown and Ashurst is fine for cars, but not passable for coaches or long vehicles. Please ensure that your coach company have detailed directions of how to find Dalesdown.
Getting to Dalesdown using public transport is a challenge! The nearest bus stop is nearly two miles from the centre, so we recommend travelling here by car or pre-arranged transport.
Bus…. The 23 Bus runs from Horsham to Worthing, following the A24 and visiting various villages along the way. The nearest bus stops are close to the Old Barn Nursery. From there, you need to access the road which leaves the A24 at the Old Barn (signposted Ashurst). Following this road for about 1.5 miles will bring you to a small lane on the left, where you will see a Dalesdown advertising board. Walk up the lane for about half a mile to find Dalesdown on the right. (If travelling by bus, the nearest local landmark (which all the drivers will know) is the Old Barn Nursery.)
The nearest train stations are Horsham (access to Bognor Regis, Gatwick Airport and London) or Worthing (access towards Chichester and Brighton). Cabs are readily available from both stations during day time, but it is advisable to pre-book for busy periods or late arrivals. If you are planning arriving by cab, it is advisable to note the instructions regarding ‘driving’ above and make them available to your driver.
Following the advice above on Sat Nav’s is still very wise, but Google Maps has been successful for a number of visitors as they have our location spot on, here is the link: Dalesdown on Google Maps.
