HOUSEKEEPERS NEEDED

 

Dalesdown is looking to recruit casual housekeepers for the 2026 summer season.

Various 5 hour shifts available.

The successful applicant will need to undertake an Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check  and references will be checked prior to interview. Dalesdown is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.

VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

Volunteers at Dalesdown are welcomed and supported to become involved in the work of the organisation in whatever capacity they would like to offer.

 

Main areas of activity:

  • Maintenance volunteers

  • Kitchen volunteers

  • Events volunteers

General responsibilities

  • Work safely and follow health and safety guidance to protect yourself and others

  • Be respectful and inclusive – everyone is welcome at Dalesdown

  • Follow the charity’s policies and procedures to keep things running smoothly

  • Take part in training when needed so you feel confident in the role

  • Help out where you can – whatever you do, your support makes a big difference

 

Person specification

  • To have a Christian faith and for that to be at the centre of your role within the organisation

  • Fully committed to the ethos of Family Foundations Trust Ltd

  • Hospitable and friendly

  • Ability to work as part of a team

 

Safeguarding

Dalesdown takes safeguarding seriously and recognises the need to provide a safe and caring environment for children, young people and adults who may be at risk of harm.

 

All staff and volunteers are required to:

  • Keep welfare paramount for any child or adult who might be vulnerable or at risk

  • Ensure individuals are valued, listened to and respected

 

DBS checks

Dalesdown takes the following approach to DBS checks for volunteers:

  • If a volunteer has a DBS check in their current church or for another role, we would want to see a copy

  • If subscribed to the update service, we may check the certificate online

  • If a volunteer does not have a current DBS check, a basic DBS check may be undertaken if deemed necessary

 

Getting started

Volunteers will be required to:

  • Take part in a short induction meeting

  • Read and become familiar with the volunteer guidelines and safeguarding policy

  • Sign a code of conduct and declaration of suitability

  • Complete a volunteer application form (including details of 2 referees)

 

Maintenance volunteers

The Maintenance Volunteers help keep Dalesdown in great shape, ensuring it remains a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained space for everyone to enjoy.

This role is hands-on, involving small repairs, routine checks, and general upkeep. There are also occasional larger projects that volunteers can get involved in.

When:
Wednesdays (arriving around 09:30–10:00), with flexibility to attend at other times if preferred.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • General building maintenance (window cleaning, carpet cleaning, painting)

  • Grounds maintenance (grass cutting, trimming, weeding, planting)

  • Carrying out small repairs

  • Monthly checks of equipment and facilities

  • Assembling or moving furniture and equipment

  • Keeping storage spaces tidy and accessible

  • Following health and safety procedures

 

Kitchen volunteers

Kitchen Volunteers support two main areas of Dalesdown’s activities:

  • Food Project cooking

  • Food and refreshments for day events

 

Food Project:
A partnership with The Wholesome Warehouse, providing hot meals for around 80–90 people each week.

 

When:
Usually Thursdays, 10:00–13:00 (may vary depending on activity at the centre)

 

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Food preparation and cooking

  • Cleaning and tidying the kitchen

  • Preparing and replenishing refreshments

  • Following health and safety procedures

 

Event volunteers

Dalesdown hosts a number of day events throughout the year, including Christian teaching days, retreats, family activity days, and partner-led events.

Event Volunteers provide support during these events.

 

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Organisational help and support

  • Christian teaching and speaking

  • Worship leading

  • Prayer ministry

  • Organisation of fundraising events
